I am taking a course in script writing and have got a short script, how does one get along to being recognised? are there any production companies that are interested in new talent and or any funders?
Any info will be much appreciated.

as i understand it to get read you either need to know someone important or have something to your name that will make people take notice, like say you have won a creative writing competition or screenwriting competition or something... i dare say alot of what they get sent is utter **** so they dont even bother reading them unless you have something that jumps out at them in the cover letter.
Screenwriting competitions.
There are hundreds out there. Many are scams, but there are legitimate ones that are often judged by industry producers. It's not uncommon for the winner,as well as runners-up, to be contacted by producers in the future after their script has been read. But the competition is fierce. Your script has got to SHINE.
In America there's the Nicholl Screenwriting Competition, but I don't know if it's international.
